選了五個字不太熟的單字出來再用自己了解方式解釋.....

China's foreign ministry says it has lodged a complaint with the US after President-elect Donald Trump spoke to Taiwan's leader in a phone call.

1. Lodge a claim, complaint, protest, etc.  意思就是提出官方索賠/投訴/抗議...不爽就對了。

Foreign Minister Wang Yi dismissed the call as a "petty trick" by Taiwan, Chinese state media said.                                 

2. petty trick  小聰明的感覺 ; petty 指此舉無輕重的行為

Only a handful of countries now recognise Taiwan's government.

3. a handful of  從字面意思handful就是手一把能拿起的數量，就是很少 

President Tsai, Taiwan's first female leader, led the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to a landslide victory in the January 2016 election.  

4. landslide  這個字就是選舉票數slide for one side勝利而且是大勝 (the winning of an election with an extremely large number of votes)

It may also be somewhat reassured by statements from the US that its policy on China and Taiwan has not changed. But behind the scenes it's safe to say China is working hard to "educate" the Trump team on not repeating such diplomatic faux pas.

5. faux pas  失禮 看到這個字就想起線上英文老師教到這個字...就是失言 (就是和人在交際時候 說話或是行為有失禮儀...)
